Bosch Electronic Service

Bosch services for classic parts

Bosch Electronic Service has decades of experience in repairing vehicle electronics. We started as a factory service for Blaupunkt radios and navigation systems, today we also repair combined instruments and complex control units for various applications in the automotive industry. Additionally, at Bosch Electronic Service we repair devices for the most diverse vehicle manufacturers, including BMW, VW, Ford, Mercedes and Porsche - therefore we offer services in manufacturer quality.

The advantages of our repair services speak for themselves!

  • As part of repairs we rely on testing technology and data Bosch developed as per manufacturer specifications. In our test towers, we simulate all situations in which the device must work in everyday life, e.g. different temperatures and loads. Consequently, we can comprehensively check your device and safeguard a very in-depth analysis.
  • In many cases we can offer replacement units if classic components have been irrevocably damaged
  • We use original Bosch parts or equivalent parts approved by Bosch only.

Incidentally: In the event of a flat rate repair or replacement, we offer a warranty on the entire device, not only on the repaired fault.

Repairing classic devices

Find out more about classic devices, the electronic system and our high-grade repair service.

What are classic devices?

Our classic devices encompass elements including engine, ignition, injection control units and radios of older vehicle models. An engine control unit is an electronic component or control unit developed for a specific engine type which, among other things, switches all signals relevant to the engine and control outputs and ensures ideal engine operation. In contrast, car radios receive radio signals and output these with speakers. In many cases older car radios still feature cassette decks or CD drives.

Which faults may classic devices be affected by?

An electronics fault has occurred in a control unit if the device does not respond or if the problem cannot be eliminated after having checking all external components relevant to the fault. However, before you return your control unit, we recommend you exclude any external fault sources (e.g. actual value analysis of sensor signals, switching around components, etc.). Any notices or information about any completed checks or potential faults may support us in troubleshooting and during repairs. Please enclose such documentation and for this purpose, use our order form or the upload function.
With radios you can mostly identify external faults by some form of mechanical defects, such as missing buttons and damaged front trims. Most electronic faults become evident from audible irregularities, such as a sporadic radio signal or permanent signal noise.

If you identify such a defect, we can offer you various services to eliminate the issue:

  1. Repairs at a flat rate or cost estimates depending on the type.
  2. Replacing the faulty device with a new device after having returned the faulty device and transferring the device data to avoid recalibration.
  3. Advance exchange with a new device. Receive a new device and later send the damaged part back to us. In this case, it is unfortunately not possible to transfer the data beforehand.

Our engineers are characterized by many years of experience in repairing vehicle electronics. Our service is based on conventional standards and directives in electronics production, e.g. IPC-7711 or IPC-7721.

Are you unsure about which classic device you have?

You can find out the type of classic part by looking for a 10-digit Bosch part number on the device sticker. This is an example of the format:
0 280 000 001
