Our classic devices encompass elements including engine, ignition, injection control units and radios of older vehicle models. An engine control unit is an electronic component or control unit developed for a specific engine type which, among other things, switches all signals relevant to the engine and control outputs and ensures ideal engine operation. In contrast, car radios receive radio signals and output these with speakers. In many cases older car radios still feature cassette decks or CD drives.
An electronics fault has occurred in a control unit if the device does not respond or if the problem cannot be eliminated after having checking all external components relevant to the fault. However, before you return your control unit, we recommend you exclude any external fault sources (e.g. actual value analysis of sensor signals, switching around components, etc.). Any notices or information about any completed checks or potential faults may support us in troubleshooting and during repairs. Please enclose such documentation and for this purpose, use our order form or the upload function.
With radios you can mostly identify external faults by some form of mechanical defects, such as missing buttons and damaged front trims. Most electronic faults become evident from audible irregularities, such as a sporadic radio signal or permanent signal noise.
If you identify such a defect, we can offer you various services to eliminate the issue:
Our engineers are characterized by many years of experience in repairing vehicle electronics. Our service is based on conventional standards and directives in electronics production, e.g. IPC-7711 or IPC-7721.
You can find out the type of classic part by looking for a 10-digit Bosch part number on the device sticker. This is an example of the format:
